Every season, writers, editors, and bloggers alike complain about how hard fashion week is. They like to tout survival kits and must-haves, as though a hectic schedule of seeing our favorite designers show their wares up close is somehow akin to a real life Hunger Games. And every season, KMart comes to our self-indulgent rescue with their concierge service, delivering bandaids, snacks, and sewing kits at just the tapping of a few keys. This season, they’re also here to remind us that Fashion Week Problems are more than just a hashtag — they’re timeless.
The last time Tavi Gevinson appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon things were decidedly bitchy. But last night passion, which just so happens to be Rookie’s February theme, the pair bonded over their mutual love for Stevie Nicks. One thing they didn’t agree on? Tavi’s decision to take a year off before college.
We must get sent a new “fashion film” every week from every brand under the sun, and while some of them are cool and some of them are crazy, very few of them are actually funny and not a single one of them ever acknowledges that, at the end of the day, it’s just a commercial. Enter this send up of every fashion film you’ve seen before, courtesy of Vena Cava’s new line, Viva Vena, and starring Bachelorette’s Lizzy Caplan.
Less than two weeks after she not-quite-lip-synced the national anthem at President Obama’s inauguration on January 21, Beyoncé Knowles will take the stage during tonight’s Super Bowl XLVII halftime performance. Will Destiny’s Child perform with her? Will Jay-Z make a cameo? Will Anderson Cooper storm the stage in a custom House of Deréon one-piece? We don’t know. But we do know that you can watch the whole thing online right here!
Despite all of the cringe-worthy E! red carpet commentary and vacuous introductory voiceover (Jessica Chastain was looking “Zero Dark Flirty”? Really?!), there were actually some slam dunk moments on the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet. From Marion Cotillard‘s voluminous Christian Dior couture to Claire Danes‘ unexpected one-shouldered Givenchy, here are our picks for the best of the bunch.
With a two-hour start to finish runtime, the Screen Actors Guild Awards is perhaps the shortest of the season’s shows, but that doesn’t mean it was lacking for sartorial missteps. From Julianne Moore’s ill-fitting Chanel couture creation to Morena Baccarin’s overwrought Basil Soda gown, these celebs fell far short of our expectations for the evening — if we even had any at all.
Trust Jennifer Lawrence to steal the show in the most endearingly goofy way possible. While heading to the stage to accept her award for Best Actress at Sunday night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Silver Linings Star stumbled in her fresh-from-Paris Dior couture dress — and the result left both the audience and fellow Dior fan Marion Cotillard agog.
Claire Danes’ My So-Called Life-inspired lip look aside, Justin Timberlake’s hair was hands down the most pleasant surprise of the evening.
A little over a year after Rachel Zoe‘s eponymous clothing line made its retail debut, Saks Fifth Avenue pulled the brand from its stores. Starting on March 6, you’ll be able to watch the dra-ma unfold in helpfully edited real life when the fifth season of stylist-turned-fashion mogul’s reality show returns to Bravo. A look at the season’s sneak peek trailer promises plenty of catchphrases, open-mouthed stares, and dead-panned exaggeration. “The legitimacy of their company is really at stake,” you guys.
How very thoughtful of them.
While the debate continues over whether Beyoncé lip-synced her “Star-Spangled Banner” performance at Monday’s inauguration ceremony, Anderson Cooper’s mind is made up. During the RidicuList segment on Tuesday night’s show, Cooper aligned himself firmly with Team B.

Jennifer Lawrence may be getting her (not very) fair share of haterade right now over her Meryl Streep quip at the beginning of her Golden Globes acceptance speech, but girl’s got bigger fish to fry. Like the unnamed tabloid that allegedly photoshopped her butt.
Before we go any further, let’s just acknowledge that Marion Cotillard had the best look of the night. Draped in a scarlet Dior (surprise!) dress custom designed for her by Raf Simons, the Dark Knight Rises star managed to look modern, natural, and drop-dead gorgeous in one sleek fell swoop. But that isn’t to say she wasn’t given a run for her money on the evening’s red carpet.
A recent visit to the brand’s Paris studio would indicate yes.
Kate Middleton stepped out for her second public appearance Friday morning since being released from the hospital after suffering a bout of acute morning sickness to witness the unveiling of her official portrait at London’s National Portrait Gallery.
While we were sad not to see her on last night’s People’s Choice Awards red carpet, Emma Stone had a good reason for staying in. The Gangster Squad star was up bright-eyed and perfectly coiffed at the absolutely unreasonable hour of 5:30AM PST to announce this year’s Academy Award nominees with Oscar host Seth MacFarlane.
Pedestrians on a busy downtown street in Guangzhou, China have one very stylish good samaritan to thank after she successfully disarmed a seemingly mentally unstable, scissor-wielding woman who had been terrorizing passersby.
We did. Did you?
