Beauty Beat: Nail Polish That Basically Paints Itself
It’s impossible to test and review every single beauty product on the market, so that’s why we’re just highlighting the good stuff. You know, those lotions and potions with which we’re currently obsessed, and the beauty counter buys we believe everyone should know about. Today’s pick is a favorite polish from celeb nail guru Deborah Lippman.
I keep it pretty simple when it comes to nail color, and I’ve never been especially experimental when it comes to shades in neons and pastels. I wore OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark for basically all of high school, and I welcomed the decline of the patterned fashion manicure with open arms.
So when I find something I like, I stick with it. Enter Deborah Lippman‘s nail polish in Supermodel, a hue she created with the help of Dree Hemingway. The color is super sheer, so you can control the degree of color you want by layering it, which would be problematic with other, clumpier polish lines — but this goes on so smoothly and dries so quickly, it’s never been a problem.
The color is classic red with a little note of vibrant orange, perfect for keeping it simple. And I’ve found that a topcoat isn’t even necessary, since the finish is so shiny. At $17 a pop, it’s little more expensive than the drugstore option, but definitely a reasonable price point for a perfect and long-lasting manicure.
