Beauty Products to Help You Survive the Summer Meltdown

Like your boss who rides a jet ski while you ride public transportation, certain things just don’t work in the summer. There are products that don’t fly in the heat, like cakey foundation and natural deodorants. But waterproof eyeliner and and cream blush, while they won’t exactly help you stay cool, will make it easier to survive without looking like a reject Madame Tussaud’s wax statue. Here are 7 summer-proof beauty products.

1. Use: Real Deodorant.

Secret Clinical Strength Antiperspirant & Deodorant, $7.49 at Drugstore.

Don’t Use: Tom’s Deodorant, which instantly helps you smell like you ran a marathon.

2. Use: BB cream with SPF and some concealer.
Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35, $39 at Sephora.

Don’t Use: A thick foundation that cuts your skin off from the air.

3. Use: Waterproof eyeliner.
DIORSHOW Waterproof Eyeliner, $29 at Dior.

4. Use: Apple cider vinegar to rinse your hair.vinegar

Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar, $4.69 at theVitaminShoppe.

Don’t Use: Mayonnaise, because the sun and mayonnaise don’t mix, and if you leave your hair mask in too long, people will mistake you for potato salad.

5. Use: Sunscreen that works if you actually use it.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 30 Cooling Water-Lotion Sunscreen, $35.99 at Doobop.

Don’t Bother: Sunscreen with an SPF over 50, unless you’re an eskimo. After 45 it just gets silly.

6. Use: Cream blush or cheek stain.

Butter London Creamy Blush, $20 at Dermstore.

Don’t Use: a heavy layer of powdered blush that will weigh you down.

7. Use: A serum that moisturizes your face.

G.M. Collin Lipiad Advanced Nourishing Complex, $54 at Skin1.

Don’t Use: Too much cleanser, because it can suck out the moisture if you overdo it.
