Beauty Beat: Birthday Girl Betsey Johnson Makes Best Perfume Bottle Ever

Yesterday was Betsey Johnson‘s 69th birthday. In honor of this momentous occasion, we’d like to highlight the best perfume bottle we’ve ever received.

On Tuesday, we attended a party to celebrate the launch of the fashion icon’s newest perfume Too Too, and it was arguably the most lively 9 a.m. soiree we’ve been to in a while. There was loud music and food and ballerinas (tutu, Too Too, get it?) and, of course, Betsey. Not only did we sing “Happy Birthday” to the designer, we also got to see her do the splits in her hightops. Seriously impressive stuff.

As a parting gift, we got a bottle of the fragrance, and it’s safe to say we were totally taken with the packaging. The top is a corset-clad torso (vaguely Gaultier-esque) with a lightning bolt tattoo, and the bottle itself is wearing a pink tutu with sequined edges over fishnet. It totally rules. It’s one of those bottles that you want to display on a very public shelf that isn’t in your bathroom, you know? As Betsey explains, “This is my dream bottle, inspired by Schiaparelli, and years of tutus!”

The perfume itself is fruity and floral, with a whole bunch of different notes including (but not limited to) passion fruit, ginger, strawberry leaves, jasmine, sandalwood, and vanilla. It will be available exclusively at Sephora beginning in October, and then will roll out everywhere else in May. Retailing from $42-82, we think it’s worth it for the bottle alone.

Cute bottle, love the play on name. But, know from experience, that lace, netting, fabric of any sort attatched to any trinket, will attract dust like a magnet!

i wouldn’t call it ‘the best’ but it surely looks awesome :)
