What Does ‘Female Empowerment’ Smell Like? Beyoncé, Of Course

beyonce fragrance

Try as we may, it’s going to take a lot more than a wavy ombré blonde bob and Sioux Sioux eyeliner to help us transform into Beyoncé, but such hurdles have never stopped us from trying before. Next up for our Bey transformation is achieving her intoxicating aroma, which has just become all the more possible now that she’s announced the launch of her next fragrance. Her third scent is called Beyoncé Rise, and according to WWD has been designed to capture her personality offstage. Sorry, Sasha Fierce enthusiasts.

“The fragrance concept is a about female empowerment and finding the inner strength that makes women so beautiful,” Marsha Brooks, vice president of Coty told WWD. There is a strong sense of “overcoming adversity and rising above it all.”

She also said the eau de toilette was influenced by a poem by Maya Angelou, who is one of Knowles’ favorite poets. The Cut is already hypothesizing that it’s “Still I Rise” and after giving it a close read, we couldn’t agree more and think that there’s infinite #BeyonceThinkPieces potential there.

According to the perfumer, the formula revolves around the gold symphony orchid, known as the queen of orchids. In addition to its aureate heart, there’s also apricot, jasmine, Italian bergamot, and iced basil. To ground the fragrance with sensuality and texture, there are also notes of autumn woods, cashmere musk, and vetiver extract.

Our fragrance barometer is pointing to ‘fierce’ on this one.
