Benefit Recruits Bon Qui Qui For Terrible Music Video Mocking Ratchet Girls Who Can’t Buy Benefit

If Bon Qui Qui, an alter ego developed by comedian Anjelah Johnson, makes you cringe in her MADtv sketches for her obviously privileged, not-at-all-critically-excecuted-in-spite-of-the-fact-that-she-herself-is-Latina stereotyping of ratchet culture, you are not alone. Unfortunately, Benefit thinks Bon Qui Qui is hilarious, and so they used her in an ad for their new They’re Real Push-Up Liner and They’re Real! Mascara, essentially to capitalize on and mock the types of women who aren’t necessarily Benefit users — you know, because they’re a line of retro ’50s cosmetics for white girls.

The real kicker? After all the pouty mouth, exaggerated double-fisting mascara battles, and gelled-down baby hairs, Benefit reminds us at the end of the music video: “Laughter is the best cosmetic.”

So please! Continue to laugh at racial stereotypes surrounding women of color! It’ll keep you young!
