As we waded through the deluge of news out of Cyprus this weekend concerning the nation’s financial struggles, and the endless bailout discussions being held in Brussels, one thing kept jumping out at us that really had nothing to do with bank insolvency or Russian deposits — Christine Lagarde‘s hair.
The International Monetary Fund‘s managing director sports a silver coif not unlike the one we envy every time we sit behind Bergdorf Goodman‘s Linda Fargo during Fashion Week, and, as it turns out, she also has some fashion accolades (and controversies) under her belt.
Lagarde was named to Vanity Fair‘s International Best Dressed List in 2011, and Vogue praised her looks in a profile shortly after she was appointed to her current role, calling her “handsome, poised, perfect, exuding confidence and charm, like a glamorous headmistress her students half fall in love with, half fear”. She caused a stir when she wore leather pants to a party at the law firm she previously chaired, but has been praised for the confidence she exudes through her style, bold jewelry, and, yes, defiantly white hair.
Take a look at some of the very accomplished style icon’s aesthetic statements below:
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
