Name That Scent: Dolce’s Living In Stromboli Smells Like A Sportscaster

Fragrance reviews are silly. Fragrance marketing is even sillier. So from now on, we’ll be crowdsourcing our fragrance reviews. Read on to find out what our office thought about the latest sample to land on our desk.

Fragrance: Dolce & Gabbana’s Light Blue Living In Stromboli, $74

What Dolce & Gabbana thinks it smells like: “An adventurous destination volcanic island, this spellbinding fragrance, Living in Stromboli bursts with an utter feeling of summer, precious pastimes, and true delight. Intensely masculine and stimulating notes of citrus and pink pepper blend with aquatic tones of geranium, bringing to mind hot summers filled of relaxing getaways and vivacious voyages.”

What we think it smells like:

  • “NOT stromboli at all! Just another generic scent that I imagine all Italian guys with slicked back hair wearing. “
  • “Like a clean shower!”
  • “That DOES smell like a clean shower!”
  • “Like a hot guy, basically.”
  • “I find that to be really offensive.”
  • “It doesn’t smell like stromboli and I find that really disappointing. But it does smell like my first boyfriend.”
  • “Smells like rubbing alcohol and bad fruit. It could also be this napkin.”
  • “It’s much stronger than the other one. Doesn’t smell like any scent I recognize. Like an unnatural, scientific concoction.”
  • “Windex.”
  • “Like a sportscaster. Like what I imagine ESPN studios would smell like.”
  • “It’s pretty generic. Has sort of a sour after-smell. Is after-smell a thing?”
  • “It’s like some kind of weird beverage or something. It’s kind of weird but I kind of like it.”
  • “Ocean-y. Sporty. It’s good but it’s trying a little bit too hard. I like it though. It means well.”
  • “I can’t smell anything distinctive at all. Just like cologne.”
  • “It just smells like cologne.”

Tune in next time when we review Prada’s Infusion d’Iris Absolue, which “expresses the iris in a new way like an olfactory escapade, oriental and luminous”.
