The Method Behind Emma Watson’s Haircut Madness

Last week when we posted this photo of Emma Watson‘s new hairdo, all we could do was praise her. Oh my, we said, how well it suits her face! How refreshing it is to see something so simple and so honest, and how cool that Watson chose to make her hair an homage to Twiggy or Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby!

But news has surfaced today that Watson may have had an ulterior motive in cutting her hair. The Sun is reporting that Watson is screen testing for the role of Lisbeth Salander (in other words: the lead role) in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

An anonymous source told The Sun that the character is a “misfit goth-type girl with spiky hair,” and that Watson has already auditioned with director David Fincher for the part, which is drastically different from her best-known role as Hermione Granger.

“Salander ends up in some outrageous sex scenes with men and women, including a graphic and violent bedroom scene.”

We admire her commitment to a role she hasn’t landed yet, and her willingness to step outside of the Harry Potter box. She’s facing some stiff competition, though — the contract Watson wants isn’t just for one movie, it’s for a trilogy. Ellen Page, Carey Mulligan, Natalie Portman and Kristen Stewart are all said to be chasing the role, and Daniel Craig has already signed up for the male lead.

But if she doesn’t get the part, she’s still got an awesome haircut.

she is growing up fast! nothing wrong with wild sex scenes so long as the director is good and she looks out for herself, she certainly has done some increasingly mature pro work – http://www.frequency.com/video/burberry/7094
