Kate Middleton paired her Alexander McQueen gown with Essie‘s “Allure” nail polish for her wedding to Prince William last year, so we imagine it was only a matter of time before the brand repaid the favor and came up with a line of polish inspired by the Duchess.
And behold! The beloved company has just released images of their winter line, and the six colors have Kate written all over them. But not just Kate — Queen Elizabeth‘s signature saturated hues clearly played a part. According to InStyle, Essie founder Essie Weingarten had Buckingham Palace on the brain when coming up with the collection:
“It’s one part Queen Elizabeth, two parts Duchess of Cambridge. They don’t mince words and never mince color. I just love the elegant simplicity of a saturated, vibrant look. It’s so luxe, yet so easy to put together.”
The line hits stores in November, and each polish retails for $8.
Alas, the bright violet the Queen sported today didn’t make the cut, but that’s not to say there isn’t still plenty to love. Our favorites are “Leading Lady,” a deep, shimmering red, and “Beyond Cozy,” a sheer glitter shade somewhere between champagne and silver — the perfect New Year’s Eve polish, in other words. Or, we suppose, a reception with the royal family.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
