Forgot A Gift For Mom? This New Spa Site Is All About Procrastination

Mother’s Day is two days away and you’ve got nothing. We tried to warn you. We even rounded up a gift guide. But, you’re busy. We get it. You know who doesn’t get it? Your mom, and she deserves some love and attention this weekend. Never fear, procrastinating princess, because SpaFinder Wellness has just launched a program with you in mind.

Last Minute, currently only available in New York, Miami and Chicago, is a special booking section on the SpaFinder site where you can find luxury spa, salon, and fitness appointments available within the next three days at discounted rates.

Here’s the deal: businesses hate wasting appointments that could be sold to willing customers (duh). You hate planning in advance and love saving some scratch. The site solves everything by posting last-minute openings for less. Right now, for instance, a massage at Valeo Spa at JW Marriott Chicago is going for $90, down from $150. An exfoliating pedicure is nearly 50 percent off at Skincare Lab in SoHo.

In a few easy clicks, find a spa and service that works for your mom’s weekend plans (which should include mimosas with you, but she’ll forgive you if you send her off to the spa solo) and pay for the appointment on the site. All the lady in your life has to do is show up ready to be pampered.

So what sets this apart from the Groupon and LivingSocial deals currently languishing unused in our inboxes, you ask? Since you book and pay for the appointment in advance, you’ve already scheduled a time to make use of it. It’s not some imaginary thing you’ll use ‘one day’ when you have the time. Also, and this is our favorite part, the service providers are hand-selected by SpaFinder scouts, so you know you won’t be showing up to a creepy Midtown office building to get drenched in fluorescent lighting and nearly strangled with Saran Wrap (thanks a lot, Groupon).

Get booking for mom right now, and then bookmark this page for your future mani emergencies and those moments when you realize you needed a haircut like yesterday. The site is still only open to those lucky three cities, but SpaFinder hopes to add Los Angeles and Dallas by June 1, and DC, San Francisco, Boston, Philly, and Toronto by the fall.
