WATCH: MSNBC Tried To Give Grace Coddington A Makeover
Grace Coddington is hitting the television circuit for the latest leg of the media tour for her memoir, Grace. And while most of us would be grateful for all the help we could get if we were going on camera at 8AM, the Cod isn’t one to compromise her stance on natural beauty, no matter the circumstances.
While she got the chance to show off her sketches on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon earlier this week, on Morning Joe yesterday, the Vogue creative director stuck to chatting about her relationship with Anna Wintour (“We have known each other for one hell of a long time; longer than she or I would like to admit.”), her transition from modeling to editing (“I thought being a fashion editor was settling down, but little did I know…”), and move from the UK to New York nearly 30 years ago.
She also gave her two cents on natural beauty, something of which she is clearly a huge proponent:
For me beauty is always the person. I don’t love plastic surgery; I like how people are; I like the imperfections of people; I like not too much makeup. Your makeup people wanted to give me a makeover this morning and I had to persuade them that I wanted to be just the way I am. I think it’s important that you don’t try to hide behind makeup.
