WATCH: Hugh Laurie’s First Ad As The Face Of L’Oreal Is Hilarious

In case you missed it, actor Hugh Laurie has been named the face of L’Oreal’s Men’s Expert brand. And while that’s cool, it’s not exactly earth-shattering. By our count, L’Oreal currently has about eleventy billion celebrities fronting one or more of their varied products. What is earth-shattering, however, is the absolutely hilarious ad he filmed for his new beauty-focused role, featuring every last bit of ~~Dr. House’s~~ Laurie’s self-deprecating charm.

Take a look and while we have you, does it freak anyone else out to hear Laurie speaking with his (native) British accent?

P.S. Is it just us, or is Laurie way hotter than Gerard Butler, anyway?

sorry, dudettes, I think it’s rather lame. Self-deprecating? No! More like self-deluded. And, don’t get me wrong, I adore Hugh Laurie and love his Brit accent. But, this? No!

What about his accent? What sort of stupid question is that? I have been a Fry and Laurie-phile since Black Adder, which most Americans don’t even know existed. I actually avoided House for the first 4 seasons because I was saddened he went Hollywood. Now this? Horrifying. And the collective American females throw themselves at him as if he is George Clooney. He’s a terribly funny Brit, and is only at his best being just British, with a hint of irony.
