UPDATE: A spokeswoman for China Glaze had no comment on the lawsuit, and that we can expect new colors in the coming weeks. (The swatches below weren’t approved by either company.) The original post continues below:
Just when we thought The Hunger Games hotly anticipated nail polish collection wasn’t going to happen because of a silly lawsuit, the company licensed to make it says the deal is back on!
In a press release, China Glaze, a beauty company owned by American International Industries, says its Hunger Games-inspired collection of sparkly finger paint will be available from specialty beauty retailers on March 1, 2012, just three weeks before the film is due in theaters. The statement makes no mention of the lawsuit that was thought to have derailed the collection’s production, but we suppose if the company is making this announcement to the press, the legal proceedings must have come to an end.
Two weeks ago, American International Industries sued Lionsgate for prematurely ending the licensing deal that would have made the nail polish, making us think that the nail polish would never be. But it looks like Lionsgate has had a change of heart. That or AII’s lawyers made things get real. We reached out to the people at China Glaze to find out more about the lawsuit (you know how we love a good lawsuit), but we haven’t heard anything yet.
But that’s really neither here nor there! The polish is back! The movie is coming! And you should totally watch the awesome trailer here.
