Things We Can’t Make Up: Iggy Pop To Shill For New Paco Rabanne Scent

If you thought there weren’t enough rockstars of advancing age making headlines in the fashion world, you were right! Iggy Pop, he of the stringy body and the stringier hair (and also, you know, decades of pretty good music) is set to be the face of a new fragrance from Paco Rabanne.

Women’s Wear Daily reports that the singer will lend his image to all the marketing and advertising for Black XS L’Excès, a new line of men’s and women’s fragrances that are due out in France at the beginning of the year. There’s no word on when it’ll arrive in the UK or if it’s coming stateside, and a roster of notes has yet to be released. But if we had to guess, we’d say the scents will smell something like human sweat, rage and debauchery with just a hint of citrus and patchouli.

What makes this whole affair even more fashiony is that the commercials for it were created by fashion photographer Jonas Akerlund, who recently directed Duran Duran‘s music video for Girl Panic starring basically every 90s supermodel ever. Could Iggy Pop’s next song have its own video starring the supers of today? We can only hope.
