We’d venture to say that Kate Middleton‘s hair is nearly as famous as the Duchess herself, and even amidst this week’s rampant pregnancy rumors, the royal’s locks have been making headlines of their own.
Ever since Kate debuted a new, layered look last weekend, complete with heavy, side-swept bangs and a certain Seventies flair, the internet has been going ever so slightly batshit over the style. But who was the dude behind the ‘do?
Well, proving that royals aren’t exactly like us, Middleton’s first foray into the wild world of bangs wasn’t the result of a pair of nail scissors and a whim, but rather the creation of Richard Ward of the Richard Ward Salon in London. VF Daily confirmed with a spokesperson that it was Ward himself who was responsible for the cut, as Kate’s former favorite stylist, James Pryce, left the salon on bad terms late last year.
While Pryce was behind the “Demi Chignon” that the Duchess sported on her wedding day and loose waves seen in the couple’s engagement photos, her tresses have been in Ward’s hands ever since the messy split.
The celeb stylist also counts Samantha Cameron, Lauren Bush Lauren, and Elizabeth Hurley as clients, but we wouldn’t be surprised if that list keeps growing with all the attention being paid to Ms. Middleton’s lusciously layered locks.
