When Katy Perry was tapped as the new face (hair?) of ghd in 2011, we all were like, “That makes total sense!” Well, that’s no longer the case according to recent reports from Perry’s camp.
British brand ghd (which stands for “good hair day”, and is owned by Jemella Group) signed Perry for a two-year $4.5 million dollar contract. After the written contract was up, ghd chose not to renew its contract with Perry, citing that the star wasn’t popular enough in Britain to maintain sales.
Perry’s camp is now claiming that the star is owed an extra $2 million per a verbal contract extension agreement made between the Jemella and the popstar. Fearing that Perry and her team would file a lawsuit, Jemella went ahead and asked the courts to block the future suit.
It’s a hair-raising situation for sure, so let’s just leave it to the legal teams to detangle it. In the meantime, take a look back at some of Perry’s wacky hairstyles. She may have sported sleek strands in California this weekend, but there was a time when she dyed her hair every color of the rainbow, and twisted her tresses into runway-worthy updos. Ahh, the good ol’ days.
