Insert witty Twilight joke here! Kristin Stewart, the female lead of everyone’s favorite trilogy of sparkly vampire movies, has signed up to be the face of a yet-to-be-made scent from French fashion house Balenciaga.
Women’s Wear Daily reports that the house’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere has been itching to work with Stewart ever since Panic Room, and a multilevel fragrance campaign seems like a good way to do it. The scent is expected to be released some time this fall, and Stewart’s gargantuan international presence will no doubt inspire tons of people (and maybe a few who don’t even know what Balenciaga is) to pick up a bottle.
For her part, Stewart says she’s always loved Balenciaga — and she’s worn no shortage of it to her various red carpet appearances — so she’s excited to work with the brand.
“Balenciaga has always stood out to me,” Stewart told WWD on Thursday. “Even when I first began to consider fashion and admittedly rarely knew the brand I was wearing, I always recognized and loved Balenciaga. It feels full circle to be involved with something that spoke to me then and of course continues to excite me now. The brand is just cool. That’s the way it is.”
We wonder if she thinks the house any cooler now that it’s paying her a few million (we’d guess) to hawk its new scent. Stay tuned for updates on what it’ll smell like and what it will be called. Anybody wanna start betting on the name? (Our money’s totally on Chagrin.)
