WATCH: Scary Laser Surgery Promises To Prevent Armpit Sweat
Do you or someone you love sweat prolific amounts of sweat? Not just when you’re in an elevator and people are standing too close to you and it’s really warm, but like all day long? Are you, as a result of this prolific sweating, prone to ruining the armpit area of your favorite shirts and dresses? Are you looking for a solution? Because we’ve found one for you. And that solution is for a doctor to put a laser underneath your armpits and literally heat scramble your sweat glands to death. Problem solved!
No, seriously — you can’t make this stuff up. In an extremely experimental new procedure (and by experimental we mean it hasn’t had any long-term testing to confirm that it actually works and only 20 people have had it done), a doctor will kill the sweat glands in your armpits so that you don’t sweat anymore. It seems to be targeted at people with hyperhidrosis, a disorder that causes the body to sweat profusely, even when it doesn’t need to.
And while some people are content to stall their underarm sweating with Botox injections or even sweat-absorbing armpit pads, a small group of others have risked … well, we don’t know what they’ve risked because the surgery is so new that we don’t know what the long-term risks are yet. But they paid about $3,000 out of pocket to have this procedure. Take a look at the video below and tell us if you think it was worth it.
