Marc Jacobs Is Launching A Makeup Line!

Last week left us wondering which starlet would front Marc Jacobs‘ new fragrance collection, Dot, and now there’s even bigger news: Jacobs is in talks with Sephora to launch a makeup line.

The designer had his first meeting with the cosmetics retail giant last week, and told Women’s Wear Daily that he considers makeup a big area for growth.

“I see makeup, fragrance — everything, really — as an opportunity. The idea of choosing a color for your lip, or an eyeliner — it’s just such a delight. The ritual of waking up and making those choices is something people really enjoy. We currently are working on defining what Marc Jacobs cosmetics will be, what they’ll say, what makes them distinctive. I think that will take some time, but the first meeting was good.”

It’s clearly very early on in the process, which is why it’s interesting that Jacobs is even talking about it yet. Then again, he’s just given himself at least a year’s worth of advance press. Nicely done.
