UPDATE: Dress Your Digits In Marchesa For Revlon Nail Wraps
In light of some past Marchesa mash-ups, a makeup brand collaboration makes a lot of sense. There was the time Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig designed a Playboy Bunny costume to promote a new Playboy Club in London, and the time that a Spiderman villain chased down a model in Marchesa couture for a Vogue spread. And let’s not forget the Chapman-designed New York Jets tee shirt. This time, the collaboration in question isn’t meant to showcase the house’s work on some industry pedestal, quite the opposite actually. It’s bringing couture to your local CVS.
WWD reports that the house is working with Revlon to introduce Revlon by Marchesa 3D Jewel Appliqués, the first in a series of three collections of nail art that nod to Marchesa couture. With a look at the first released image, it’s more than a nod. They’ve completely re-created that intricate lace detail in polish. Of the new launch, Chapman said, “Through Revlon’s incredible global reach, we will be able to bring a little piece of Marchesa to women around the world.”
British beauties get to snag these goods first, as they debut in the U.K. in September, following in the U.S. and Canada in October. Two more ranges are also set to follow in the coming 18 months, one with a philanthropic component. So, we get to “wear” couture, keep our savings account intact, and help people? Best. Collab. Ever.
The trade also announces that Revlon has signed on to be the official makeup and nail partner for Marchesa’s New York Fashion Week shows, with artistic director Gucci Westman, who worked backstage at Marchesa’s fall 2013 and spring 2014 bridal shows, taking the lead once again.
UPDATE: Just in time for the Marchesa Spring 2014 show today, Vogue.com has more prints and an actual model wearing the stickers. Don’t forget to make a drugstore run on Oct. 1!
