When the Daily Telegraph ‘s Hilary Alexander pointed out Queen Elizabeth ‘s surprisingly trendy military jacket, it got us thinking about the Queen’s style in general. Because when we see the Commander-in-Chief of the British Armed Forces in a military jacket designed by her royal dressmaker, we think Balmain . Sure, she wears a lot of pastel suits, but there’s something kind of nuanced about it all.
So in the interest of being servicey, we bring you the official QE2 style guide . You’re welcome.

1. Military Jackets
The military craze started with Balmain back in 2009, and it's still going strong. So on point, Liz!
2. Bright Abstracts
Rag & Bone showed lots of brightly colored abstract prints in September, and while the Queen's print isn't quite as abstracted, it definitely fits the aesthetic.
3. Yellow Ruffles
Zac Posen 's runway show for his Z Spoke line heralded a yellow ruffle trend for spring. Looks like Elizabeth is ahead of the game.
4. Huge Florals
During Fashion Week, Jil Sander was all about big, bright florals . Coincidentally, so is the Queen.
5. Bow Prints
Queen Elizabeth doesn't just have the runway locked down, her looks have downmarket influences also. For example, check out how much this See by Chloé bow print matches her own bow print dress.
6. Clear Umbrellas
What's a royal to do when it rains? Carry a trendy clear umbrella, of course! Just like Jessica Stam did at the Victoria's Secret fashion show .
7. 3D Glasses
We all know 3D is the future, and the Queen is ready to embrace it. Perhaps next time she'll don Gucci 's $225 3D specs?
8. HATS!
We have no comparison to show you here, because QE2's hats are inimitable. And amazing. And just OMG look at these hats.
