Scarlett Johansson Stars In The Most Awkward Perfume Commercial Ever

We haven’t seen what you could call a “not weird” fragrance commercial in a really long time, but Scarlett Johannson‘s new commercial for Dolce & Gabbana‘s The One is SO WEIRD.

In it, the lovely Johannson plays an actress giving some kind of weird backstage press conference, during which she gives phantom reporters answers to questions you never hear. She says such things as, “I had an Italian boyfriend once. His mother broke up with me,” and “Music inspires me. Art inspires me. But so does the wind.”

The commercial feels sort of like director Jean-Baptiste Mondino said, “Pretend you’re some kind of Marilyn Monroe character, be coquettish, be smart and engaging, but never stop being wry. WRY IT UP.” If that was the goal, she certainly succeeded.

But we digress. Take a look at the commercial below and tell us what you think about it.

she looks amazing, and I love her voice in it. I just think it should have been shorter, and cut away to scenes of her on set or something. She just talks way too much.

Oh dear. That is just uncomfortable!  Did anyone else feel a yearning to yell, “Stop talking!” about a quarter of the way through? Scarlett Johanssen is dead sexy, but for the first time ever, watching this made me feel…embarrassed for her. “WRY IT UP” indeed…ick.

OMG! This is an SNL short digital by Andy Samberg isn’t it??? This CANNOT be real. She was so bad in this. It was painful, at best. Maybe what Jean-Babtiste Mondino said was, “TRY for f@ck sakes!” instead of wry.  Can’t wait to see the Kristin Wiig spoof on it. THAT will be brilliant.

That was bad.  May as well have Charlise Theron in her “monster” makeup do a makeup commercial

I loved it. Don’t wHat you’re all going about. I believed every single word she said..

  • Bikerk

This might have worked with some SERIOUS editing…..like down to 15 seconds.

she looks like granny, nort ‘girl’

She is beautiful and very charming. That coy smile and her natural beauty are irresistable. Her playful manner and creative “replies” are more like indirect yet insightful and statements. she’s very engaging. She had drawn me in from the start and I completly forgot it was a commercial. I guess that’s what I liked about it, beyond the fact that it’s Scarlett Johansson. I do agree with Bikerk though, for a TV ad “SERIOUS editing” would be warranted.
