Typically, we reach for classic red lipstick or a shimmery gold eyeshadow come holiday fêtes, but just because the mood is festive doesn’t mean you can’t take a walk on the dark side.
Case in point: Blake Lively’s burgundy lip and Veronica Lake hair at the Van Cleef & Arpels party. Her look has a distinct femme fatale feel, which doesn’t exactly shout holiday cheer, but it’s both striking and elegant if you’re trying to make an impression — which let’s face, you are. It’s also worth nothing that Lively has gone for a a darker honey blonde for winter — inspiring us to lay off the peroxide a bit.
To achieve this vampy rouge, we recommend a few swipes of our tried and true Nars Velvet Matte lip pencil in Damned (yes, the name makes us feel all the more brazen). As far as her retro coif goes, you’ll need a 2″ barrel curling iron and a soft sculpting spray gel to set the curls.
Now, please excuse us while we pine for Lively’s cadet grey fur coat paired with a lacey slip dress and flounce skirt from Marchesa’s Spring 2014 collection.
