Beauty magazines worldwide often stress the importance of adopting a beauty regimen to unlock future benefits in your 30s, 40s, and so on. But while you slather on some of Philosophy’s “Hope in a Jar” in your battle to beat the clock, a recent survey is telling women to hold their horses and let the secret to beauty come naturally. According to researchers, British women hit their peak of attractiveness at the age of 31 — not so much due to beauty enhancers, but confidence.
The Daily Mail reports that at 31, women still carry a youthful beauty that packages together more confidence and a better sense of style than their youthful counterparts. 70 percent of the 2,000 men and women polled for the survey, conducted by QVC shopping channel, agreed that confidence is the key for a woman’s attraction. In a statement on the findings, QVC marketing director Sue Leeson said:
“This research shows what many have always suspected - real beauty is about more than just good looks but a combination of confidence, style and personality too.”
So we decided to dive into the files of some of Britain’s most beautiful women [Ed Note: And Meryl Streep! Because I love her!] and put some faces to these statistics. In many cases, it is true — these women were gorgeous in their early thirties. But you know what? Most of them look even better now. What do you think?
