Not that modern day ads are necessarily any better, but this vintage print ad for Van Heusen’s extra manly, “power-packed” ties really takes the misogynist cake.

The copy reads:

For men only! … Brand new man-talking, power-packed patterns that tell her it’s a man’s world …and make her so happy it is! And man! …how that Van Heusen sewmanship makes the fine fabrics hold their shape. And for Christmas… here is the Christmas tie that is really different.

Our translation: “Save yourself the effort of beating her into submission! Just wear these ties.”
