We were impressed and humbled by the candor of her New York Times op-ed this morning. But… what does it all mean?
Every fashion party worth its salt has a liquor company on board to keep the drinks flowing and guests happy. But what about when the party is thrown by a liquor brand helmed by a fashion designer? Well, we’re not sure there’s a precedent, but that was precisely what went down last night in a dimly lit space below the High Line, where Absolut was fêting its newly minted partnership with Johan Lindeberg, the bearded, Swedish creative director of of BLK DNM and, now, of “the first-ever, single-estate, handcrafted luxury vodka,” Absolut Elyx.
Men love ‘em, women hate ‘em, and only a select few can actually pull them off. In this episode of #CandidlyNicole, Richie explores the confounding trend while helping a friend find a perfect first-date look.
Katy Perry may be known for kitschy performance getups, but for Saturday’s sing-a-long with The Rolling Stones, she toned it down and opted for a digital-print mini from Mary Katrantzou. She just… didn’t get it quite right.
Still isn’t, never was, and what is wrong with people? Up-and-coming Pakistani designer Aamna Aqeel is the latest to opt for controversy as her road to media coverage. In an editorial spread titled “Be My Slave” (literally, we are rage-shaking as we type this), DIVA Magazine showcases Aqeel’s luxuriant garb on a model being served by a dark-skinned child. He holds an umbrella over her. He sleeps on the floor in rags as she idly flips through an issue of Bazaar. He bows his head as she presumably orders him around. How could the designer possibly justify this stinking pile of racist excrement?
How fierce were the ladies of FOX on the red carpet at last night’s programming presentation post-party? Well, some fared better than others, as you’ll soon find out.
In the beginning of Anne Hathaway’s stardom, she seemed to be the kind of celebrity that people loved to hate. I KNOW, real people hating on celebrities — SHOCKER. But she’s ditched the baby tees in favor of Valentino and a platinum pixie, and we couldn’t be more pleased.
Sure, it would be more fun to outfit the real live Duchess, but sometimes a pen and paper will just have to suffice, and today WWD asked a bevy of designers to come up with dresses fit for the last few months of Kate Middleton’s pregnancy. As you might expect, some options look more realistic than others.
There are no shortage of potential coverlines to be gleaned from Zoë Saldana’s Allure cover shoot and inside interview. She says she’s over dating actors, might “end up with a woman”…and she’s naked, for goodness sakes! So why did the magazine’s editors opt to draw attention to her weight?
Step 1: Work on your surprised face.
This designer is no stranger to having their duds grace the covers of fashion glossies the world over, but this month, they’re the one smiling out at us from the newsstand. Read on to find out who the mag picked as their cover star.
To an average reader, it seems like the big style bloggers make most of their money from traditional banner ads, obviously branded collaborations, and affiliate marketing programs. But what really goes on is a bit more tricky.
This week, in hotel rooms all over Cannes, meticulously-packed gowns are being unloaded from their trunks in preparation for the 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival. Since we’re way across the Atlantic Ocean, we’re preparing by taking a look back at our absolute favorite looks to come out of the French Riviera in the past five years. Somehow we even managed to restrain ourselves from making this a solo gallery of Diane Kruger — for the most part.
Many stars celebrated Mother’s Day with their mothers, loved ones, and children — and quite a few celebrities shared behind-the-scenes snaps of their special day. Channing Tatum posted a picture of himself with his mom, while Jessica Alba brunched with her mom and babies. Meanwhile, Selena Gomez snapped a photo of her possibly pregnant mom, and Britney Spears posted a silly photo with her two little men. Click through to see the pics.
With the news that Barbara Walters is retiring in 2014 after more than 50 years of must-see interviews, spanning the Shah of Iran to Pippa Middleton and One Direction, we couldn’t not show you this 1986 episode of The Barbara Walters Special.
Seems like the left coast is never short of summer concert fare, and this weekend was no different with 102.7 KIIS FM’s Wango Tango 2013. Hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Britney Spears, the event brought together bands like Maroon Five and Fall Out Boy with pop-star appearances including Demi Lovato, Emeli Sandé, and Avril Lavigne. We’re pretty bummed we were 3,000 miles away drowning in stuffy art parties in New York, so let’s vicariously relive the fun with a look at red carpet arrivals.
We’ve heard of Terry Richardson getting handsy during photo shoots but this is something else.
3.1 designer Phillip Lim hosted a cocktail party at his flagship store in the neighborhood of Aoyama on Friday evening. The party also doubled as a means to cast the remaining models for his upcoming worldwide ad campaign/short film, featuring model and actress Kiko Mizuhara.
Fashion designer Peter Som has already made a reputation based on his affinity for classic elegance with a quirky twist. Previously, though, Som’s designs were mostly relegated to high-end boutiques and red carpets.
