It’s seems like new fad diets are popping up all the time. The gluten-free diet, however, has managed to survive longer than most, which makes me think that it probably has some merit. Yet the concept of gluten can be a little confusing. Google defines it as “a substance present in cereal grains, especially wheat, that is responsible for the elastic texture of dough.” So what foods are actually gluten free?
I did some research and discovered five foods that you can safely nom upon without fear of consuming any gluten:
You know what sounds better than pasta? Sedimentary rock composed of sand or quartz grains that are stuck together. In fact, sandstone is way more fun than pasta! It’s typically red, yellow, OR brown in color — which pasta can say that?
Leaves are full of chlorophyll, which is great for your skin! People say “you are what you eat” all the time; if you’re lucky (and eat enough foliage), maybe you’ll stop needing food and start photosynthesizing instead!
If you’re short on time, air is a great gluten-free snack. Start carrying around an oxygen tank for a quick fix. Bonus: people might think you’re sick and treat you more nicely!
This all-American BBQ favorite is still safe for those on a gluten-free diet. Go ahead: make corn bread, corn on the cob, popcorn — anything your beautiful little brain can imagine!
5: The internal organs of a celiac
Do you have a tasty-looking friend with celiac disease? Well, since they haven’t eaten bread for years, they’re safe to consume. Lucky you! Next time you go out to party, slip something in their drink and you’re home free!
