When Hillary Clinton spoke at the United Nations commemoration of International Women’s Day on Friday, she called gender equality “the great unfinished business of the 21st century.” Compare that to “You have as many hours in the day as Beyoncé,” which is about as inspirational as it usually gets on Instagram.
We don’t really have any expectations for what we might find on our social media feeds — except that a pair of bare boobs probably won’t pop up to say hola anymore — but today, there were actually some heartfelt images and messages posted in praise of females. Prabal Gurung, for example, wrote an essay-length ode to “the compassionate intelligence, resolute strength, unwavering beauty and layered complexity of women.”
