A Peek Inside The Pages Of CR Fashion Book
The release of Carine Roitfeld‘s new magazine CR Fashion Book is mere days away, but impatient as we are, we just had to get another look inside the glossy. Luckily today marks the launch of the official website, so now we have more than just a few GIFs, JPEGs, and videos to form an idea of the accompanying book.
The Tumblr-hosted site is organized into three sections: The Envelope, The Book, and The Wall. The former will be a place for Roitfeld to share her obsessions (such as, for instance, her bathroom or her favorite stationery), the Book a collection of exclusive stories and photography, and the Wall a page where all CR posts can be viewed together. While this kind of newsy content is typically included in magazines’ front-of-book sections, Roitfeld’s Fashion Book will publish only editorials and feature stories in its print edition.
“I love that the web gives me the opportunity to share my thoughts with my readers in real time, something that I have never been able to do before,” the former French Vogue editor tells the Huffington Post. And, just as we had suspected from the angel and graveyard imagery, Roitfeld also reveals in her editor’s letter that the theme of the first issue is rebirth, inspired by her daughter Julia’s pregnancy:
“This issue takes rebirth as its theme and is filled with both images and ideas about birth, pregnancy, and family. The promise of youth. The force of age, and the rush of all things news. It’s an escape, a fashion fairy tale. It’s a dream of a better life—because fashion is meant to make us dream. CR is a place for these fantasies of fashion—the most irresistible clothes on the most beautiful girls captured by some of the most visionary photographers.”
