Raf Simons, Haider Ackermann, And A Whole Lot Of Dior Rumors
The first bit of dish comes courtesy of Fashionista and Vogue UK. Both outlets have reported that flowers addressed to Haider Ackermann arrived at Dior HQ in Paris late last night. Was this a mistake? Probably not — Ackermann’s offices are fairly far from Dior’s. Was it a prank? Maybe. Was it a sign of things to come? A former intern of John Galliano, Ackermann was considered an early front-runner for the gig. Fashionista also reports that Ackermann is looking for a fulltime assistant, not for his own label, “but for something new”.
The second item comes from the not-always-reliable Hint Magazine. They report that Dior approached Raf Simons about taking over the vacant position, but that the agreement broke down during the last round of negotiations because Simons allegedly asked for too much money. As a result, Dior CEO Sidney Toledano extended Bill Gayten‘s contract for an additional six seasons (which, including couture, is equal to one year). A deal with LVMH would have provided funding for Simons’s eponymous line, though Hint believes Bernard Arnault wasn’t too keen on Simons heading up Dior in the first place.
Can we all just agree on one thing? The Dior job is definitely cursed at this point.
