Anna Wintour Helping Aerin Lauder Become The ‘Next Tory Burch’
Lauder is the third largest shareholder at her family’s company, and arguably its most visible face. According to a company spokesperson: “She will continue to have a senior creative role with the brand and will continue as a member of the board of directors of the company.” Interestingly, this announcement comes on the heels of an extensive New York Times profile on the Lauders that ran just last weekend. It definitely doesn’t sound like a rift was the cause (or effect) of her solo ambitions, but we’d love to hear more about why she’s stepping out on her own.
Anna Wintour and NBC‘s Jeff Zucker will serve as advisors to Lauder’s company, which will reportedly run the gamut from clothing to accessories to housewares. As a source told Page Six, “Aerin wants to be the next Tory Burch.” Lauder is known for her impeccable taste and easy elegance, so we’re excited to see what kind of things she produces. (We’re also loving the rumor that pieces from her grandma Estée’s private collection will serve as inspiration for the brand’s jewelry line.)
