WATCH: Pageant Mom Defends Feeding Her Daughter ‘Go Go Juice’

Perhaps in an attempt to strike while the iron is hot, or perhaps because her mother is a glutton for media punishment, Toddlers & Tiaras star Alana “Honey Boo Boo Child” Thompson made an appearance on Good Morning America today to defend her Go-Go Juice habit.

If you need a refresher, Go-Go Juice is an original concoction made up of 2 parts Mountain Dew to 1 part Redbull (measurements estimated according to video instructions), which Alana’s mother says gives the first grader all the spunk and energy she needs to succeed at pageants. After finding that a couple of pre-show pixie sticks (a.k.a. “Pageant Crack”) weren’t doing the trick, she made the energy drink switch — and doesn’t understand why people have a problem with it.

She tells GMA:

“When they do get on stage you have to be alive and… your personality has to shine a long day. A pageant day can last from 7 in the morning to 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 at night, so performing and getting a kid up that early and lasting all day without a rest, you have to energize their body. And that’s just what I choose to give to my daughter.

“There are far worse things. I could be giving her alcohol.”

True. She could also be feeding her actual crack. We’ll call this one a wash.
