Cowboy Bandits Steal Cute Bunny From Alexander Berardi Boutique
This is equal parts the cutest and saddest retail crime of all time. Miss Cooper, one of designer Alexander Berardi‘s resident retail rabbits, was snatched from the window of his Soho boutique earlier this week.
The bunny bandits allegedly grabbed the animal from its grassy pen while Berardi’s business partner Chistopher Kulukundis was helping a customer. The culprits are described by DNAinfo as “a man with a handlebar mustache and a black Stetson and his female pardner, dressed up in a white cowboy hat”.
The pair were apparently frequent visitors to the store. “The man says the same thing every time, ‘Every time I’m in the area, I’ve got to come in and see the bunny,’” Kulunkundis explained.
This behavior is hardly out of the ordinary, however. As a neighbor of Berardi’s, we can attest that the store is usually brimming with people who come to pay a visit to Miss Cooper and her fellow rabbit friend Jack (and, of course, shop the designer’s stellar wares). The bunnies’ famous fans even include supermodel Christy Turlington and 30 Rock‘s Jane Krakowski.
As for now, Jack is being kept at home under lock and key while the NYPD investigates the kidnapping.
