First Post-Death McQueen Book To Hit Bookstores

On May 7th, the first book in memory of the late Alexander McQueen, written by Kristin Knox, will hit bookstores.
“Alexander McQueen, Genius of a Generation,” will be a 128-page book canvassing McQueen’s entire life – from his days a child where he would draw the walls of his parents’ flat, all the way through his final collection for Fall 2010.
The 120-plus photographs will chronicle and pay tribute to the span of McQueen’s short life from child to fashion genius. The Telegraph writes:
The photographs demonstrate how McQueen’s vision eclipsed mere ready-to-wear and how he struggled and sought to define fashion through complex thought-processes, science and computer technology, special effects and elaborate sets which were astonishing examples of installation art, designed to showcase some of the most bizarrely-beautiful, ingenious and mind-boggling clothes ever seen on a runway.
It is difficult to imagine 128 pages, even 228 pages being able to pay the designer justice. And it seems odd that the first book following his death would be one so…skinny. More appropo in my mind would be a large format coffee table book, something similar to Suzy Menkes‘ Valentino book, or the new Prada book.
Regardless of size, we’re glad there’s finally been something put out, and wait with bated breath for a larger (literally) McQueen book to come out.
