Allure Magazine: Hot For Blonde Fox News Anchors

Truth be told, the fashion sense of news anchors isn’t usually anything to write home about. The blowouts, the boring ties…more often than not these men and women are a lesson in how to dress if you’d like to look boring. And while we often see a strong connection between news, politics, and fashion, rarely do we notice the more mainstream fashion lovers honing in on such ties.

But apparently, the tides are changing and Allure Magazine has taken interest in the ladies over at one news network. The women of Fox News are being featured in an online slideshow and one-page spread in next month’s issue. “With its bevy of babes, the network should be called the Foxy News Channel,” the site announces.

And then, there’s the poem:

Roger Ailes is such a whiz, at the infotainment biz. His Fox News babes are always hot, (And health care is a Commie plot!). But we digress; let’s start anew
To look upon these happy few. With locks so blonde and legs so long,
we’re tempted to break out in song…

We’d continue, but you get the point. And in case you’re wondering, yes, the entire piece is in rhyming sequence.

Allure features seven Fox News anchors in the July issue’s ‘Beauty and The Beat’ section, which is said to speak to how different ideals of beauty influence society and how such standards have changed throughout history. Ironic, given that all of these women are blonde, tan, and leggy. We’re not seeing a whole lot of different ideals in this piece.

We applaud Allure’s attempt at branching out from their usual makeup and hair tips, but wonder — wouldn’t a Q&A with Megyn Kelly about her favorite self tanner be more interesting?

I have also noticed this. I think that Fox news perpetuates an extremely sexist stereotype. Only the women are young and beautiful. The men are (mostly) old white guys. I think this is very common place. It kind of drives me crazy…like the woman anchors #1 skill on her resume must be “hott”.

Another reason to not take Fox News seriously!
