WATCH: CNN Asks Dov Charney How It Feels To Be Called A ‘Pervert’
American Apparel just announced their new jean line yesterday, but CEO Dov Charney found himself on the news this morning for a slightly less sellable reason. Instead of talking denim, CNN grilled him on the sexual harassment lawsuits recently filed against him, in which no less than five women are suing him for damages totaling $250 million.
Charney brushed off the accusations, telling the reporter that recently released photos of his accusers in sexually charged poses “speak for themselves.” One of Charney’s accusers is 19. When asked if he thought it was appropriate for a man of 40 to have a relationship with someone that age, Charney answered:
I don’t think…I’m not qualified to make an opinion of that kind. You can accuse someone of sexual assault in April of 2008, but then when you send them provocative emails soliciting a sexual relationship in 2009 and 2010…
CNN also asked him how he felt about being called a “pervert”. “It’s not accurate,” Charney responded. “I’m a caring person.”
