American Apparel’s New Footwear Ads Are Pretty Cheeky

Lest we had forgotten that American Apparel is the kind of fashion company whose advertising can only make you feel like you need to take a shower and go to confession, it’s new shoe ads are a pretty clear reminder that that is in fact the case.

And that’s because even though the ads, which we spotted on Copyranter, feature no cheap nudity, they still combine all the worst sentiments of that overexposed Terry Richardson, Tom Ford brand of salesmanship but still manage not to appeal to your excitable inner demons. They’re naked but not sexy; they feature the product they’re supposed to be selling without making you want to buy it.

OK, maybe that last bit isn’t entirely true — we’ve never seen blue oxfords look shinier than they do in the picture you’ll find below, but their proximity to that poor girl’s ass is enough of a turn off to make us go looking for them somewhere else.
