This America’s Next Top Model Ad Is Full Of Photoshop & Styling Fails

The ad for America’s Next Top Model: College Edition is out, and it’s pretty bad. In fact, it features three major FAILS.

In the image (pictured below), the contestants are wearing what look like weird Catholic school girl outfits you see in porn films (fail #1). They’re standing around in front of what is supposed to be a university building with Chewbacca Tyra, who recently survived a vicious attack at the hands of her crimper and is wearing really furry shoes (fail #2). We’re not fans of this ad mostly because of the aforementioned styling choices (errors?), but we’re also not on board with the poor Photoshopping (fail #3).

There are no, shall we say, anatomical discrepancies like missing limbs or elongated torsos, but there are definitely some weird kneecaps. It’s also so painfully obvious that there is not one part of this image that was shot at the same time as the others. Composite images aren’t uncommon, but when you look at this ad, you’re supposed to be able to believe that all the objects in the photo were originally in the same frame. But that’s definitely not the case here.

The entire ad looks strangely two-dimensional, the angles of the shadows are all over the place, and we highly doubt that the fourth and fifth girl from the left were linking arms in their original photos. If you can look at this pic and say that all the girls were photographed at the same time, then we applaud you because you have a much more powerful imagination than we do.

I also personally do not appreciate the image of college girls hanging out in crop tops and 3-inch strips of fabric that are supposed to pass for skirts, but that’s another story.

    The girl to the left of Tyra and the light skin girl that has her arms interlocked with the brunette don’t have belly buttons.  This is really a bad job ask the porportions were not done right. And why is Tyra so damn tall, yes she is tall but if these girls are models too, they should be close in height as they are also wearing heels too.

    I think the socks may be digital even. Definitely some shopped thighs.

    Number one, if this is about the supposedly next top models, why is Tyra always insisting on being in the photo, hasn’t she had enough being photographed???
    the shots are all terrible, baaad photoshop, bad uneven lighting!  You would think the photographer would have shot them all in the same studio space using the same exposure!!!  And yes, it is very trashy, I would not want my daughter-if I had one- in this mess!!!  Anyhow, if my daughter were to waste her time doing this, she’ll never become a top model anyway so why bother, correct?????????????????????????????????

    Agreed.  Really weird, especially the knee thing!  Also, the lack of any consistent visual perspective makes Tyra look about a foot and a half taller than all the girls.

    Second girl from the left: What is that bow-like thing next to her neck? It’s not a necklace.
    Second girl from Tyra’s left: If you look closely, this girl’s right eye seems to be pointing an entirely different direction from her left eye.
    Oh, and it’s pretty obvious they’re not standing on a lawn in front of someone’s house. Because if they were, all those spike heels would be sinking into the ground like golf tees.
    Just for fun, look at the shadows on the girls’ legs, and then compare them to the shadows the shoes are making. Some of them are going in completely opposite directions!

    Looking at the brunette in the back on the far left, her left leg (behind the blonde) seems to be horribly dislocated from her body.

    Look more like strippers or actresses in a cheap porno than models. What message are they trying to send here? Is this the image of female empowerment or success?

    I’ve been getting spottier at watching ANTM, i used to love it. I can honestly say after seeing this photo I have no intentions of watching a single episode of this coming season, and probably won’t ever again.

    third from left and fifth from right seem to be missing most of their lower left legs. I’m really not believing, given the perspective, that they’re skinny enough to be completely hidden behind the girls in the foreground.

    the girl with the glasses on the far right… her knees have been shopped into wax or something else that has no indentations or dimples or anything to indicate tendons or muscle attachments. ANTM where the “m” stands for mutant.

    also… the black girl in the back on the far right, her calf and ankle has been made too small to support a human adult. The turned partially away from us.. 2 thighs, 1 leg?
