PHOTOS: The Ladies Look Subdued At The amfAR Gala

The dresses at the amfAR Gala tonight were disappointedly subdued for such a fancy event.

Once again, the thigh-high slit played a dominant (and boring) role in a number of dresses, especially Jessie J‘s Louise Heal number. The rest of the red carpet was also quite a let-down. Carine Roitfeld chose a Givenchy LBD (in this case, the acronym stands for Long Black Dress), Kirsten Dunst wore a colorblocked a Louis Vuitton number, and Kate Upton looked borderline absurd in a poufy confection.

But we give snaps for Diane Kruger for donning a Chanel resort frock and Liya Kebede for showing up in a menswear-inspired tux. Well done, ladies.
