AmFar Continues The Party, Honors Jean Paul Gaultier
Last month, amFar, the Foundation For Aids Research, raised $1.2 million at their highly anticipated annual Gala. Yves Carcelle, chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, Elton John, and David Furnish all recieved amFAR Awards of Courage for their efforts in the worldwide fight against AIDS. And of course, Gaga performed.
This year, one party was clearly not enough for the Foundation. And when there’s reason to throw a party with some of world’s most fashionable and help a good cause at the same time, we’re all for it. Especially when that party involves honoring Jean Paul Gaultier.
On June 3rd, Gaultier will be receiving an award at amFar’s brand new Inspiration Gala, which, according to the amFar website, will be “a celebration of fashion and creativity that will benefit the Foundation’s innovative AIDS research programs.”
amFar also released the details of the design of the Gala:
The design inspiration for 2010 is “Black Tie//Black Leather.” Each of the major designers who are participating will donate a piece inspired by the “Black Tie//Black Leather” theme to be presented in a runway show. The designers’ items will then be auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting amfAR. The evening will also include a formal dinner with an exclusive performance and special presentations. Guests are encouraged to dress inspired by the theme.
We can only imagine what everyone will wear; Gaga, you better start putting together some dominatrix get up as soon as possible.
We will certainly raise a glass to this great cause and for honoree Jean Paul Gaultier — and scour the Internet for the latest pictures of that red carpet because we all know that the only thing amFAR does better than raise money is throw an amazing party.
