Amy Winehouse Once BBQ’ed A $24K Alexander McQueen Dress

Amy Winehouse‘s influence on the fashion industry has been discussed at length since her untimely death, but did you know about her feud with Alexander McQueen?

Back in 2006, Winehouse met McQueen at a party. Though McQueen butted heads with the singer, she became fast friends with his then-boyfriend Archie Reed. In a tell-all interview with the Daily Mail, Reed recalls Winehouse’s demons in graphic detail, as well as her relationship with the designer:

“She and Lee [McQueen’s real name] didn’t get on. Lee had offended her at the party where I first met her and Amy never forgave him. When he sent her a dress to say sorry she put it on the barbecue. She also spat on one of his dresses at Selfridges which she had to pay for because she had soiled it. At first she refused then she just said, ‘Fine – but tell Alexander McQueen I ruined his dress.’”

The dress Winehouse burned was said to be worth £15,000, or more than $24,000.

She should have sold it on eBay, like how people do with their engagement rings.

Was this article really that necessary? The woman is dead. Show some respect. Why start dragging up gossip that she can no longer respond to?
