Angelina Jolie Is Totally Wearing Makeup In Her Louis Vuitton Ads
It’s been reported that actress Angelina Jolie isn’t wearing any makeup in her new ad for Louis Vuitton‘s Core Values campaign. And we would officially like to call BS on that claim.
The ad (which is, of course, stunning) features Jolie sitting on a boat in Cambodia with her six-year-old Alto monogram bag. The photograph is lush and sumptuous in a way that only Annie Leibovitz‘s photography can be — there are lily pads and verdant foliage everywhere, and Jolie herself looks as beautiful as her surroundings. And we’re not saying that she needs a whole aisle of makeup products to look beautiful, but there’s no way on God’s green earth that she wakes up every morning with eyes that are naturally that smoky. Does Louis Vuitton think we’re so blind we can’t see that?
And even if she weren’t wearing makeup, she and her surroundings still would have been seriously Photoshopped — because when was the last time you saw a professional image used for the purpose of convincing people to buy things that hadn’t been Photoshopped? Never, that’s when.
Still, the execs at LVMH told Women’s Wear Daily there was no makeup (digital or otherwise) involved in this photo.
“People are not used to seeing Angelina in this situation,” said Pietro Beccari, Vuitton’s executive vice president, unveiling the image exclusively to WWD. “I like the fact that it’s a real moment. This travel message we give through personal journeys is a fundamental one for the brand.”
If Louis Vuitton wants to build its brand on a lie, that’s fine. But they shouldn’t expect people to believe them when they say that someone who’s visibly wearing makeup has nothing on her face.
