Angelina Jolie’s Leg Speaks!

Well, ok, not really. But Angelina Jolie does, finally addressing her infamous Oscar night pose and the veritable media frenzy it sparked post-ceremony.

As she tells The Huffington Post:

I honestly didn’t pay attention to it. You know what I mean? I don’t watch those TV shows and if I go online and see something about myself, I don’t click on it. And the people I surround myself with don’t really talk about that kind of stuff. [Laughs]. I heard something, but I didn’t pay any attention. It’s as simple as being a woman picking a dress you like and having a night, and not really thinking about anything else.

While we are all for cutting female celebrities a break from the constant scrutiny they endure about their appearance, that hand-on-hip, jutting leg stance is just. so. awkward. And it is rather funny to think that someone who is widelyacknowledged to be one of the sexiest women in the world hits the red carpet and suddenly adopts a version of the “sexy” stance patented by legions of point-and-click-wielding sorority girls.

Intentional or not, it certainly made for a good meme while it lasted: the leg has close to 50,000 twitter followers and has been Photoshopped on to everything from Tim Tebow to the moon landing.

In case you need a refresher, check out the slideshow below for a look at the pose’s appearances throughout the night.

  • Bikerk

The Leg was grand. Jolie was poking fun at herself and seemed to be enjoying herself throughout the evening.
