Ann Romney Wears Red On GMA, Hangs With Oscar De La Renta
Ann Romney cooked up some Welsh cakes and hung out with a horse while guest-hosting Good Morning America today, as well as not-so-narrowly avoiding some nasty burns courtesy of Stanley Tucci‘s boiling butter. At first we thought she had opted to repeat the Oscar de la Renta dress she wore for the Republican National Convention (her best outfit so far, in our humble opinion), but upon closer inspection today’s look was cinched with a sash and had a few extra buttons up the front.
That’s not to say that was the last time you’ll see her in Oscar, however. According to a tweet from CBS reporter Sarah Boxer, Romney has been getting chummy with the designer during her New York visit:

Plenty more shirt-dresses where that came from! Romney will presumably mix these new high fashion threads in with her steady stream of pieces by Alfred Fiandaca, the New York-based designer behind many of her recent looks, who was profiled in WWD today. Of Romney’s recent choice to wear one of his ivory skirt suits to the first Presidential debate, he said he was pleasantly surprised by the news:
No, I mean on the day of I knew it was a consideration. But you never want to get your hopes up. The night of the Republican National Convention, when Ann was going to speak, I knew that Mitt had picked a red dress of mine for her to wear. In fact, he bought it for her. He told her, “I’d like you to introduce me in that” so I assumed that’s what she was going to wear. And she ended up wearing Oscar de la Renta, so you never know.
Indeed! He also thought that Romney would be wearing a zip-up frock of his on television this morning, but it looks like she went with something else last minute yet again. Whatever she wears, though, it’s becoming clear Michelle Obama is going to be sharing the sartorial spotlight for the next few weeks.
