Ann Romney’s Favorite Designer Revealed!

Until now, the most recognizable items Ann Romney has worn are a bold red Oscar de la Renta dress and an offensively expensive Reed Krakoff bird-printed top. Her style is fairly modest (leather experiments aside), and figuring out who designs her outfits has not been easy. Well, all that is changing, because we just learned that Romney loves wearing New York-based designer Alfred Fiandaca! Wait, who?

He’s the one to thank (blame?) for Romney’s cream skirt suit to the presidential debate Wednesday night, that rock n’ roll leather ensemble on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, as well as a slew of other outfits from her campaign trail with Mitt.

According to the designer’s site, he moved from East Boston to New York City when he was 17 years old, and studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He moved back to East Boston, opened his own shop on Newbury Street, and, since establishing his line in 1960, has dressed ladies like Julie Andrews, Audrey Hepburn, Nancy ReaganJean Kennedy, among others. His designs were once available at department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergorf Goodman, and Henri Bendel, but customers can now visit his boutiques in Boston and Palm Beach, in addition to his Garment District atelier.

According to The Cut, Fiandaca is an apolitical designer, and a rep said that Democrats and Republicans alike have all worn his wares. Romney has been buying off-the-rack Fiandaca pieces for over a decade, but the designer’s told them that he wishes Romney would let his staff tailor her clothes now that she has to be camera-ready at all times.

A woman who has never worked a day in her life can’t make her husband seem “in touch” with the American people. Is there any doubt a Romney administration would favor the rich and increase the income gap in our country? Mitt is a pariah in Mormon Clothing and will stop at nothing to expand an empire of greed for the rich in this country by expanding tax cuts for the 1% of the wealthiest Americans. He’s out to gut the Middle Class for every red cent he can get. Will his sacred Mormon underwear grant him the protection and money to buy this election? See for yourself as Mitt dons his tighty-whities sent down from the Good Lord Himself at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/05/mitt-romneys-magic-mormon-underwear.html

“Offensively expensive” . . . Who determines what is “offensively expensive”, and for whom something is “offensively expensive”? Ms. Obama has also worn very expensive clothing–whether she purchases it herself, or designers lend her clothes, I’m not sure. But when someone is spending their own money on clothing, how is that possibly offensive?

Yes I could not agree more with the 2 comments below. I believe fashion editors feel they are making a name for themselves by behaving ill mannered ( perhaps down deep inside they are fustrated, untalented designers.)
Regardless whether the clothes are expensive or not.
They are Designed, & Made in America.
I only wish the Obama’s would practice want they preach ;in that domain.

I don’t exactly like the Romneys; after all, who likes a candidate who accepts multiple hate groups endorsement and wants to oppress women and gays? But good god, why so much bias against Ann Romney? Her leather ensemble may have been a crime against fashion, but do we really have to have bias from even fashion sites now? Seriously, please don’t contribute to this, even to balance out Fox News. It’s not worth flushing your own (presumed) ethics!
