Anna Wintour Doesn’t Share Elevators With Commoners
Last summer, Tim Gunn rocked the fashion world with his account of the time he saw Anna Wintour get carried down five flights of stairs, fireman style, by bodyguards at a Peter Som show in 2006. Well, fashion world, get ready, because the New York Times‘ Eric Wilson has another doozy: Ms. Wintour won’t share elevators, either!
From his report on Sunday’s Thakoon show:
At 6 p.m., editors and buyers were lined up in the lobby of the Plaza Hotel, waiting for one of two elevators to ferry them to grand ballroom on the third-floor for the Thakoon show. Ding. The doors of one were held open, but the guests were told to wait.
A couple of minutes later, Anna Wintour and company breezed in and took the vacant elevator. Ngh. You get used to it.
See? It’s news like this that makes fashion week (and the accompanying lack of dignity and/or sleep) all worth while.
