WATCH: Anna Wintour Comes Out In Support Of Marriage Equality

If Anna Wintour can influence some of the world’s most powerful businessmen, can she sway a handful of New York state senators? Late yesterday, the Vogue editor-in-chief released a video expressing her support for legalizing same-sex marriage in New York.

“As far as I’m concerned, having the right to say ‘I do’ is as fundamental as the right to vote,” Wintour says in the video. She joins a campaign featuring a number of famous New Yorkers, many of them from the fashion community: Kenneth Cole, Joan Rivers, Russell Simmons and even hockey player Sean Avery, who once interned for Wintour, have all made videos. And we suspect that Wintour’s video will pack a lot of punch.

“She knows the difference between a passing fad and an enduring brand. Equality is part of the New York brand,” HRC senior New York strategist Brian Ellner said of Wintour.

Yes, Anna is a branding master, and she’s also had a lot of success getting people to do exactly what she wants for the last 20 years. Cheers to her for lending her influential voice to a worthy cause. (Also, cheers to her for wearing Prada in a public service announcement. The Devil is still wearing Prada! That joke will not get old!)

Good for you, Anna! BTW – does this not make her appear (almost) human?
