Anna Wintour Is ‘Disgusted’ With Silvio Berlusconi And His Girls
WWD reports that in an interview with La Repubblica‘s politics section, Wintour lays into the infamous womanizer:
“I am disgusted. I have no other words. I am disgusted and embarrassed. How can Italy tolerate Silvio Berlusconi and his bevy of girls?”
We’re used to a much more restrained Wintour who keeps a guarded stance in interviews, so this is rather refreshing. We couldn’t find the Q&A on the La Repubblica website, but Wintour apparently said she wanted women to protest against Berlusconi and “what is in effect a dictatorship” during Fashion Week. ”On one side, there is the Made in Italy, the designers, the great creations that credit you around the world and that have no equal,” she told the newspaper. “On the other side, there is a political reality that is so compromised. How can you tolerate all this?”
While we’re surprised with her candor, nobody has ever accused Wintour of not being politically conscious. Most recently, the avid Obama advocate released a video in support of the New York same-sex marriage vote.
