Here’s Your First Look At AnnaSophia Robb As A Young Carrie Bradshaw
AnnaSophia Robb sure has some big Manolos to fill. The 18-year-old actress will be playing the young Carrie Bradshaw in the upcoming CW pilot of The Carrie Diaries, based on the Candace Bushnell series of the same name.
Warner Bros. has just released the first promotional image of Robb, gussied up in cherry red heels, a rainbow belt, the requisite head of curls, and a sequined dress (complete with tutu, natch). The series will follow Carrie through her senior year of high school in the 1980s, pre-Big, pre-newspaper column, and pre-iconic clique.
We watched SATC while it was still in its original 1998-2004 run on HBO (and on VHS soon thereafter), which would make us feel old were it not for the fact that said watching was done covertly, away from any potential embarrassment of a parent walking in during an inopportune scene. We have thankfully grown up a bit since then, and have been watching the show in reruns ever since Carrie bid adieu to Paris in the final episode. And though nothing will ever compare to the original series, we’re certainly willing to give Bradshaw’s high school incarnation a shot.
No, Robb isn’t remotely a doppelganger for 1980s SJP, but we still think she’s pretty darned cute and from the promo shots she looks like quite a promising fit for the role. Also, Robb is a Denver native, lending yet more clout to our earlier theory about the city’s status as a fledgling fashion destination.
